When Golden Homes opened its doors in 1990, we wanted to make changes to home building in New Zealand. Gone were the days of solidly-built brick homes - new houses were being built using new types of monolithic cladding and fibre sheeting. It made them cheap, but they weren't built to last.
There was a big gap in the market for people who wanted a good strong brick-and-tile home, without having to pay for an architect and private builder. Golden Homes offered this product at a price people could afford.
For the last 25 years we've been seen as innovators of the industry always one step ahead of the game. We were the first home builders to offer double glazing and steel framing as standard features of our homes, and later we were the first again to make thermally broken windows standard, too.
Our homes are some of the most cost competitive in New Zealand - but it doesn't come at the expense of quality. We pay close attention to detail. We've never built a leaky home. And have never failed to complete a job.
With thousands of very happy homeowners behind us - and thousands more in front of us. It really is a better home you own with Golden Homes.
